The Skills Development Centre is equipped to host a wide range of activities, including meetings, seminars, workshops, filming, and clinical simulation events.

How to book an event

Complete all required information in our Booking Request Form and return to our Bookings Administrator by either:

  • Email - Save the completed booking request form to your desktop, compose a new email and attach the saved file to the email. Send to:
    csds-room-bookings@health.qld.gov.au
  • Fax - Print the completed form and fax to (07) 3646 6501

Booking rates exclude GST. Full-day is equivalent to 8 hours and half-day is equivalent to 4 hours.

Catering

A number of retail food services are available onsite at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital campus. CSDS primarily uses the RBWH Venues and Catering Service; catering can be arranged through the Bookings Administrator at the Skills Development Centre with choices from the RBWH Venues and Catering service menu.

Centre Facilities

Groups booking the centre can choose to deliver their event independently, or request the support of our experienced Simulation Educators/ Coordinators, AV technicians, and/or administration staff. Other features include:

  • live stream feeds with the ability to record the session
  • welcome screens and room signage
  • onsite catering provider
  • access to coffee machine
  • videoconferencing and teleconferencing
  • breakout rooms
  • clinical realism of training wards, operating theatres, clinic rooms, emergency resus/trauma bay
  • access to simulation equipment
  • secure lockers for personal belongings
  • showers
  • wheelchair access
  • name tags provided
  • printing services
  • access to network hub

After-hours use

Use of the Skills Development Centre out of normal business hours is regulated and will only be allowed when bookings have been made with at least two weeks' notice. This will enable sufficient notice to be given for appropriate areas. All after-hours usage will incur a room booking fee and additional costs for staff and equipment as required.

Booking confirmation

Booking Requests will be reviewed and if confirmed, you will receive an email advising of room confirmation. If your booking cannot be met or there is a booking conflict, a suitable alternative will be suggested where possible. Priority is given to Queensland Health staff.
