While there is a significant immersive simulation component to the course, there are also opportunities to practice relevant core skills, small group discussions and mini-scenarios on various aspects of the complex specialty of Emergency Medicine. The ACME course aims to stimulate and provoke the experienced physician practicing Emergency Medicine and who wishes to be challenged. There is no assessment.

The core modules are:

  • Human factors
  • Cardiovascular Instability
  • Airway and respiratory emergencies
  • Complex emergencies
  • Death, Dying and Stress in the Emergency Dept

Interwoven throughout the modules are some core themes of teaching, professionalism, safety and quality. In addition, paediatric content has been included in the modules as relevant.
